ADELE: 'Set Fire To The Rain' lyrics
cAn you think of a better song? |
I let it fall, my heart
And as it fell, you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me
My hands, they're strong
But my knees were far too weak
To stand in your arms
Without falling to your feet
But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
And the games you play, you would always win, always win
But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Let it burn while I cry
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
When laying with you
I could stay there, close my eyes
Feel you here, forever
You and me together, nothing is better
'Cause there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true

And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win
But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Let it burn while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
Where I felt somethin' die, 'cause I knew that
That was the last time, the last time
Sometimes I wake up by the door
Now that you've gone, must be waiting for you
Even now when it's already over
I can't help myself from looking for you
I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Let it burn while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
Where I felt somethin' die
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, oh
Oh, no
Let it burn, oh
Let it burn
Let it burn

Twilight
And again Twilight it is. Because some books are so good, that you can read them again. And again. And again. And again...
P.S. OK. Rephrasing: Picturing Pattinson as Edward is so good, that you can read the book again. And again. And again. And again...

Andy sick
Andy is sick today. Gastroenteritis. First time so intense, barely took the Gatorade to boost her up a little.
She stayed home, so she made all the following artistic creations.
No reason to upload them of course, except that I love her more than life. And everything she does is perfect.

True or false?
Between pain and nothing, I choose nothing...
(Seen it on a desktop wallpaper. But I don't think it's true).
Time time, where did my one hour go?
I will fall asleep any minute now, and use the keyboard as pillow...

HUNGER GAMES MOVIE
Movie comments again, too bad that in the meantime I didn't have time to write about anything else. But, since 'Hunger Games' officially came out, and since I literally ran to make booking (first and only pre-booked seats in the theater where we watched it), I cannot do anything but put this movie stamp on my blog.
It was like rereading the book, very close to the story, to the atmosphere... The actors were good choices (even the fact that Gale was quite absent as a character on the first book, leaves the same feeling on the film). Not much to say, except that it was a really good film. The only difference is that when you actually watch all those children walking towards the possibility of their death, then it really becomes more real and more creepy than reading about it. Imagination tends to protect you I guess. Especially if you choose so.

One day
Unfortunately today I have neither the time, nor the mood to write much.
But this movie was lovely.
Really.

strAined-so strAined
My eyes are so strained that if they could act, they would pop out of my head and bump me with a hammer, for being constantly in front of a screen.

COLIN STIMPSON : A brilliant talent

Why I think I could be best friends with Ms. Esmelia above, I don't know. But her creator -Colin Stimpson- definitely deserves a visit. You can check his brilliant work here (and it's not all about witches!):

1,2,3 which clock should it be?
And the number '1' wins (although I'm not sure why, but I've had quite an obsession with this clock for about 10 months). It's the hardest to copy though. But we'll see how it goes.
So, shall we start?
STEP 1: MAKING THE BIRDIES
What of? Salt dough (2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 1 cup lukewarm water, knead for 10 minutes, ready).
Done (OK, couldn't take photo while actually making them,
I don't want to decorate my camera with flour).
Step 2 will be preparing the wood I guess. Stay tuned for updates.

young Adult movie:not so good
I watched this last night; time passed OK, but the film is quite unworthy commenting.
Despite the movie concept, Charlize is aging in reality. Like we all do.
weAlth or FreeDom?
That is the question.

Perfect-smooth pie dough
During weekend some guest brought apple pie, with a perfect, soft dough that melted before bitten. I never made this king, my pies have always been the crunchy, biscuit type. So I looked it up and it seems that this recipe might be the... 'melty' type:

potAto Salad
It's so easy to make, and there are many ways to make it. But once you get it right, you want to repeat the same one; again and again.
Here's my last night's success -everyone like it:
boiled potatoes
very finely diced onion (just a touch)
black olive rings
caper
all following finely chopped:
red roasted peppers (from jar will do)
parsley
pickled cucumber
lemon juice
olive oil
Mix and serve.

Shatter me - YA novel by Tahereh Mafi
Ι'm nearly finished with this one. And it is quite good:
PROS:
-The author has a uniquely wonderful way of writing, and saying things.
-The trick of the numbers (counted times) is very nice, the strike-through fonts (erased sentences) also a good idea, but both are intense in the beginning and fading through the book. I think the writer should keep this system more updated, during the whole book.
-The shining, silver fish hook waiting on the end of e-v-e-r-y chapter. Ms. Mafi has done this one really nicely.
CONS: The story. It reminds me of a strainer, filled with holes everywhere. And the characters. They are in a place (emotionally) where the romantic reader would want them to be, but how they got there is another issue, not balancing on logic. Anyway. A little more thought should have been given to the plot. Sure, it keeps you want to read a little more, to see what happens, but... The story will not stay in your mind afterwards. It could have been much more powerful, the concept of 'I touch you-you die' has potential.
That's that.

Pandemonium finished
I forgot to write that I finished Pandemonium (two days) ago, and I personally loved it. OK, I know that some issues are not believable and the resemblance to Twilight's trick-book2 is obvious, and to Hunger Games even more. But still, I was hooked, couldn't take the book out of my mind until I finished, pretty much knew the ending but still I liked it. And there was so much tension all the time, that at one point I said: enough, I need to relax a bit.
My first thought when reading the last word was 'how can I wait another year for the next book?'. I guess that pretty much says it all.

Birds
I looked outside my bedroom window yesterday morning, and saw a few birds, perching on some bare tree branches. I have the tree in my garden, but if you ask me what kind it is or which the birds were, I'll not know. I was watching how they mingled nicely in their environment, totally blending with the background, protected and almost covered through nature's touch; concealed against hostile eyes. Predators' or enemies'.
I kept marveling and I kept thinking. Shouldn't I know more about this? The birds, the trees... Shouldn't this be an image of no surprise to me? Why did it take me so many years to have the two minutes necessary to gaze at the scenery? At these birds, which I'm sure that are outside my window every year. Why is life so full of repetitive tasks that eventually suck the living out of you? I may be half way through my life already, or even tomorrow I may not wake up at all. Who knows? And all my past has been, is endless hours inside an office in front of a PC, or over a kitchen sink cooking and washing, or I don't even know what else.
Why??

Red Red Rose
O, my love is like a red, red rose,
That 's newly sprung in June.
O, my love is like the melody,
That 's sweetly played in tune.
As fair are you, my lovely lass,
So deep in love am I,
And I will love you still, my Dear,
Till all the seas go dry.
Till all the seas go dry, my Dear,
And the rocks melt with the sun
O I will love you still, my Dear,
While the sands of life shall run.
And fare you well, my only Love,
And fare you well a while
And I will come again, my Love,
Although it were ten thousand mile
That 's newly sprung in June.
O, my love is like the melody,
That 's sweetly played in tune.
As fair are you, my lovely lass,
So deep in love am I,
And I will love you still, my Dear,
Till all the seas go dry.

Do not stand at my grave and weep (1932) by Mary Elizabeth Frye
- Do not stand at my grave and weep,
- I am not there; I do not sleep.
- I am a thousand winds that blow,
- I am the diamond glints on snow,
- I am the sun on ripened grain,
- I am the gentle autumn rain.
- When you awaken in the morning’s hush
- I am the swift uplifting rush
- Of quiet birds in circling flight.
- I am the soft star-shine at night.
- Do not stand at my grave and cry,
- I am not there;
I did not die.
